Loading a container so it survives the drive
If you are using a pod or a container, how it is loaded matters more than anything else about the move. A container is not driven gently, and a load with space in it will move.
- Weight low and toward the end that sits over the axle, so the box stays balanced on the truck.
- Build in tiers, floor to ceiling, and fill every gap. Empty space is what lets a load shift.
- Heavy furniture upright where it can be, not stacked flat, and strapped off to the wall anchors.
- Mattresses and table tops on edge along the side walls, protected, rather than laid flat under weight.
- Finish each tier with soft items, boxes of linen or cushions, to wedge the layer tight before the next one starts.
What we bring, and what you bring
We bring: dollies, hand trucks and furniture sliders; moving blankets and shrink wrap for the furniture we handle; straps and rope to tie off the load so it does not move in transit; and tools for taking beds and tables apart and putting them back together.
You bring: the truck or container, and a fuel tank with something in it.
A lot of labor only calls are really one difficult item: a gun safe going into a basement, a treadmill coming up from one, a wood stove, a slate pool table, an upright piano. We do these, but they are quoted separately rather than at the hourly rate because they need specific equipment.
Booking a crew
- Tell us the date, the address, and what you are loading into. That is enough for us to tell you the crew size and how long it should take.
- We confirm the crew, the arrival window and the hourly rate in writing.
- Have the truck or container on site and accessible before the crew arrives. Waiting time is on the clock.
- Boxes sealed and labelled before we get there. It is the single biggest thing that shortens the job.

Can you help at both ends?
If both ends are local, yes, and it is usually booked as two separate blocks. If you are driving to another state, we load here and you arrange a crew there.
How much notice do you need?
Labor only is often the easiest thing for us to fit in at short notice because there is no truck to schedule.
